Lifspeki

Lífspeki. An Icelandic word that means ‘The practical philosophy by which one lives one’s life’.

I love this word so much. It makes we want to learn new languages just so I can find more like it. Stuff like schadenfreude (enjoying someone else’s misfortune) & Mamihlapinatapei (the wordless, yet meaningful look shared by two people who both desire to initiate something but are both reluctant to start) & Kyoikumama (a mum who relentlessly pushes her kids to academic achievement).

My lifspeki? To acquire as much enjoyment & emotion as possible before I die.

What’s you lifspeki?

These are made-up definitions of fake words, but they shed some light on an interesting side of everyday life. I thought you’d enjoy them, even though they’re not real. http://www.dictionaryofobscuresorrows.com/

I didn’t think I would, but I enjoyed that xD. Thanks Nihilus.

My lifspeki is to open & transcend: open up from a shell of fears and transcend into courage; open up with people and transcend into passion and excitement; and open up the world’s mysteries and transcend the physical, to discover what is underneath it all.
